  1. Krysta

    Affordable minimalist kids shoe!
These are great kids shoes with plenty of room for toe-splay and acceptably flexible soles. There is a little bit of padding for comfort inside, but no unnecessary stuff like arch support. The velcro and construction seems to be good quality, not cheap. By all accounts these look sturdy and I hope will have good longevity (I’ll update this review later if we run into any problems but so far so good). The best thing is that they are half the price of kids shoes from bigger barefoot brands, making them accessible to the average family.Sizing seems to be essentially accurate, though maybe a smidge short on insole length. I sized up my oldest who has been consistently wearing a big kid size 3 into a 4 and that left some comfortable growing room. The size 3 was a little close on the toes for them. My 2nd child is only a 1/4″ behind in foot length and should hopefully be good in a 3 for the rest of the year and I think a 4 would have been too big in their case. I have no hesitation buying the next size up when we do need it. Width-wise, the shoes are a good average-wide width. My oldest has much narrower feet than my 2nd child and slips around in wide shoes but is able to wear these without feeling loose or encumbered thanks to the double velcro straps. If I could suggest an improvement, it would be to offer more colorways. I ended up buying the navy for both children (a boy and a girl) and let them personalize with paint pens to differentiate.

    Great kids shoe!
These are exactly what you are looking for! My son goes to a school where they have “inside” and “outside” shoes. He wears these inside his school and they fit him so well. He never complains of his feet or toes hurting at all. They have a wide toe box and the Velcro straps make for a very easy on/off for him. The color is great and they are super durable.

    They’re perfect
FINALLY! A children’s shoe that is zero drop, WIDE, flexible, AND AFFORDABLE!! I’ve spent so much money and time over the years buying shoes and having to return them when they don’t fit or their quality is nowhere near the purchase price point. I resorted to making my kids’ shoes myself (which is super fun, but time consuming, and school was a little leery of homemade shoes over mainstream looking gym shoes). I own whitins for myself, so I was over the moon when I saw they made a children’s shoe. My kiddo was so happy to have shoes that fit his feet and that were flexible enough for him to move in!My only “con” for the shoes is if your kid has skinny ankles the foot opening might be pretty big on them until the shoes break in enough for you to tighten the velcro all the way. Wearing socks with the shoes filled the gap and sped up break in time. It makes for long and floppy velcro, but I don’t mind that since my kid is able to put them on independently because of the generous opening.I hope whitin takes this amazing shoe and turns it into more styles and sizes—hello rain and snow boots and toddler shoes!

Great barefoot shoe alternative for the price!
We have bought a lot of barefoot shoes: vivo, splays, ten little, and zero shoes being our favorites. With 4 kids, we go through a lot of shoes and we just needed a more affordable closed shoe that the kids could wear while biking. These have a little toe spring, but still better than a conventional shoe. Good bend to them.Easy to get on. They must be pretty slip resistant because they make that squeak on the floor if they shuffle their feet. I don’t notice it nearly as much now. It was pretty annoying in the beginning..Sizes were just right with recommendations. With some of our barefoot shoes, they are a little more breathable and the kids can wear them barefoot without them getting smelly too quickly. These ones do get smelly fairly quickly if they aren’t wearing socks (not a problem probably for the average person… we’re just weird)My 9 year old daughter is a classy girl, but also functionally mindful. She really likes these, and is a big advocate for barefoot shoes and how they help you have better foot control and balance!

    Great kids shoes!
I love that these are affordable barefoot shoes for kids. The wide toe box and zero drop is great!!! These are great for kids with wide feet and high volume feet. My daughter has fairly narrow long feet with wide toe splay. She has to tighten the first Velcro super tight, so the Velcro strap hangs down. I’ll probably have to cut it. If the made a more narrow version with a super wide toe box still, that would be a nice option! But they will work nicely still I think. We got my son whitin shoes as well in a different color. He has a wide splay with very wide feet and they fit him perfect.

Made my kid love shoes, and stop putting shoes on the wrong feet!
This is 6mo of continue use. All day everyday. My kids are hard on shoes. These have been through rain, shine, mud, snow, grass, gravel. They’ve been through it all. My kiddo stops her bike by dragging her feet frequently. These shoes have been through it.I just ordered her a new pair because these are wearing out at the toe and she’s picked at that. And she’s ready for a half size up.Not only are they tough, but I’ve never found a shoe that fits as good as these. Getting shoes on this kiddo was a fight. She’d rather go barefoot and risk injury. When she would put on shoes she never could tell which foot they were supposed to go on. I thought all that was normal kid stuff. But nope she got these and now wears them everywhere and within 2-3days completely stopped putting her shoes on the wrong feet. She said all other shoes she couldn’t tell because it was uncomfortable either way.I am so glad they’ve come out with new colors because that was her only complaint. (Her new pink ones arrive this week. 🩷)

Bought 2 pairs, both failed within 2 months (velcro)
When the first pair’s veclro de-lamninatd from it’s strap, I bit the bullet and bought a 2nd pair. However, the 2nd pair also failed in the same time frame (2-3 months). The velco came right off of the fabric strap, with no way to secure the shoe on a foot. Not only would I not buy, I’d like a refund if possible. Not many options on Amazon for wide toe box, light weight kids shoes, unfortunately.

  8. American Rose

    Work great with AFO’s
Wide enough to fit my son’s AFO’s, not too heavy, relatively lightweight and easy enough for my 7 year old to get them on and off himself. Remove insoles for extra room but extremely wide at the toe which is good for us.
