Best value around for great quality boots.
I wanted quality at a reasonable price and I absolutely got it with these boots.Sturdy, lightweight and cute, it’s a winning trifecta.Comfy as can be, wide toe box and plenty of room for a cushioned sock.True to size.

    Sturdy and comfortable hiking boot
This is my second pair. The first pair I bought from a retailer I still use on less hilly terrain as I’ve worn down the tread. I’ve easily hiked 700 humocky miles and some road walks, in all kids of weather, with my first pair. I liked them so much that I bought a second pair thru Amazon. These are not waterproof boots. I’d say more water resistant. It helps to occassionally (at least annually) clean and condition the leather boots with a proper leather cleaner to retain the water repelancy and leather’s condition thus extending the life of the boot. The insoles can be removed for easy drying or if you need to insert an orthodic or a replacement insole. The soles grip nicely to rugged trails. The boots provide good ankle support and offer great toe protection from rocks, roots, stumps, etc. The wide toe box allows my toes room for expansion in hot summer or for heavier socks in winter.

Update: took forever to break in
I have had them for a couple weeks and walked about 10 miles in them trying to break them in and get used to them. 1st issue: the toe box is actually not particularly wide. Coming from a pair of Altra hiking shoes, my feet definitely feel cramped. But I was also spoiled with that toe box, so I was willing to overlook that. It’s definitely wider than a pair of Merrells. 2nd issue: The right boot has started making a crinkling sound, like the glue is dried out and bad. 3rd issue: The left boot has a weird seam right above the pinky toe that is rough and creates blisters. This is not in the right boot. The right boot feels awesome, just makes a weird sound. For the money, I would have liked a sturdy pair of boots that didn’t cause blisters. I think Keen needs to tighten down their manufacturing. The fact that two boots in the same pair to have two very different problems, is concerning.I have a hiking trip coming up that I don’t have time to break in a new pair for, So I’m going to wrap my foot, bring some extra glue, and my old Altras for backups. Fingers crossed these hold up in the New Hampshire white mountains.**UPDATE** I took these boots with me to climb Mt. Washington. I wore them as much as possible in the days leading up to the hike. After about 15 miles of wear, they FINALLY were broken in. It was like a switch flipped and they’re super comfortable hiking boots now. The weird seam is no longer poking out, and the toe boxes loosened up. They served me quite well on Mt Washington. The soles were super grippy and worked well on wet and slushy rock. When we got into the compacted ice, i added Microspikes and the boots felt very stable with those on as well. I’ve had hiking boots where spikes felt weird, but felt fine on these. Updating to 4 stars, because I’m still not totally sure about the glue on the one boot. I took it to a bootery and they said it was fine, but without removing the sole they couldn’t be 100% sure.I recommend these IF you have the time to break them in THOROUGHLY before your adventure.

    Finally found a good boot
I have never owned KEENs before. I do however have wide feet and toes that like to splay out. I love to hike especially in the mountains. If you’ve ever hiked inclines, you know how unfortunate it feels to have squished and bruised toes. I debated on a size 8 or 8w. I decided to go for the 8w. I will say they are very wide. For me, I love this. But I want to give the disclosure that I believe the regular size also runs a little wide as well. The insoles in these are a dream. Not memory foam soft, but comfortable right out of the box. They are sturdy enough to feel like you have enough support. I LOVE that these have a strap on the side. This allows you to tighten the boots around your ankle and keeps your feet from pushing to the front of the boot. For inclines, this is so so important. The arch support is phenomenal. These are very waterproof from what I have tested them in. Puddles and small streams mainly. KEEN as a brand have been pfas free since 2018 and keep the environment in mind when making products. Overall very happy with the purchase, price point, and company as a whole.

Very good hike boots but not waterproof
Love these hike boots for mild weather hiking. I would not say they are 100% waterproof. OK for morning dew from grass but if you use in a rain soaked field the boots were soaked inside! very comfortable, no break-in time and lightweight but secure. Can not give 5 stars due to my feet and socks getting wet!

    Comfort and stability!
I love these boots! Normally, I wear a new pair of hiking boots around breaking them in. These were so comfortable, that I forgot I had them on the very first day! They give me plenty of ankle support and fit true to size.

  8. Lisa Gardner

Lightweight but sturdy. Provide great ankle support and arch support. I have flat feet and the insole provided is very comfortable. Fits perfectly as an 8 wide while wearing cushioned hiking socks.
